Frequently Asked Questions

idazzle.com is committed to providing you with all of the information necessary to research and buy the diamond of your dreams. Here are some frequently asked questions about idazzle.com and the diamond-buying process:

10 CommandmentsYou can read and print out the Ten Commandments of diamond buying, or add your own question to our bulletin board.

What is the best quality diamond to buy?

The combination of carat weight, color, clarity, and cut is ultimately a personal decision based upon your budget and the best balance of the diamond quality factors. If you find that you can see the difference in color between an F and an H color diamond, then you should probably focus on the color over the clarity or carat weight. If you look at a .75 carat diamond next to a .90 carat diamond that is slightly lower in quality, and like the size better, even knowing the finer quality, then you should focus on size. Once you know the differences, then you can decide for yourself.

How do I know that the diamond I’m buying is worth the price?

Educating yourself in diamond quality factors, and looking at several diamonds will help you understand how different factors affect a diamond’s price. idazzle.com gives you the education, then allows you to look at diamonds with a Jeweler who has been carefully screened. Our price database also gives you an accurate price for every possible combination of diamond quality in the quality ranges that you would be interested in.

How do I know that the Jeweler is representing a diamond’s quality and/or price honestly?

Stories of misrepresentation, diamond switching, outrageous mark-ups, and fictitious discounting are inflated by a media that is sensationalistic. However, there is some basis to these stories sometimes, and it is important to know who you are dealing with to avoid a bad situation. We recommend that you purchase a diamond from a Jeweler who is a member of the American Gem Society. Ask the Jeweler about their education and experience. If you decide to purchase through our Authorized Jewelers, we have done the research on their integrity and pricing standards already, so that you can purchase with confidence.

How is idazzle.com different from other diamond-buying sites?

idazzle.com is unique in online diamond buying because we do not actually sell directly to the consumer. This allows us to be totally objective in the quality and price information that we provide. We also differ from other on-line sellers and brokers because we understand that buying a diamond is too important to do sight-unseen. That’s why we link you to an Authorized Jeweler to see the diamonds in person. We strive to be the one stop that a consumer has to make to make an excellent diamond decision!
